Importers Recommending REDI-to-Wear
Historically REDI-to-Wear has catered mainly for direct Asian Suppliers to the overseas Retailers but we are now continually adding the requirements of suppliers to more and more US Importers.
Since its launch in 1999 our flagship EDI product for Asian suppliers to the overseas retail buying community – REDI-to-Wear – has continued to evolve by providing the extras that our customers want.
More-and-more this has involved our including the requirements of US Importers who are asking their Factories in Asia to use "Compliance Tools" such as REDI-to-Wear to assist them in improving packing quality.
These days product quality has become a norm – everybody knows that they have to have good quality products, produced at the lowest possible price, and this is why Asian suppliers are in such demand. They can achieve this through the use of better production techniques.
But packing the right products in the right cartons remains a problem as this is seen as a less demanding part of the production cycle. Times are changing though and the retail stores demand the same quality of packing as they do quality of product.
One importer we spoke to recently said that their Buyers are demanding more than 99% carton packing accuracy so that they can ensure that they have the right product in the right place, at the right time for the consumer – without time delays of re-packing.
Factories are often struggling to get near this figure – 90 to 95% being nearer the actual achieved. On the surface, 95% sounds good but for the retailers this can mean quite significant losses if they have to re-check carton contents, and that is without the risk of Customs delays if errors are found during spot checks.
"Without 99% plus carton packing accuracy many of our Buyers will not allow us to go into their special programmes that would enable our products to get to the stores earlier – so that they can sell more which would mean they buy more from us."
Faced with this dilemma, a number of Importers have asked EDIasia to include their special requirements into REDI-to-Wear so that their suppliers can take advantage of the benefits that this sophisticated, yet user friendly, software has.
In particular the use of "Scan & Pack" gives major assistance in packing the right product, in the right quantity, in the right carton. Although a number of EDI solutions have Scan & pack facilities of one sort or another, we feel that the way that REDI-to-Wear provides this is really special.
It really does make life simpler for the Packer, and the Factory Management, to get the packing completed easily, correctly and cost effectively thus satisfying not only the needs of the Supplier but the requirements of the Importers and the ultimate Retailers.
