EDIasia Sponsors Motorcycle Racers in 2007

Once again in 2007 EDIasia is supporting a number of motorcycle club racers in both China and the United Kingdom.

This year our main focus is on three riders – although we will be giving minor support to a few others as we go forwards !

In China, EDIasia is supporting James "Jimbo" Dawson in his exploits on the tracks around China – particularly at what is really our "home track" the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) just over an hour's ferry ride from here in Hong Kong.

Jimbo runs his own company at Zhuhai – Kwik Tigi Racing – which provides many services for racers of all levels from training to race-day support. He is also the ZIC resident stunt rider.

EDIasia is supporting Jimbo in many ways both of his racing and stunt riding.

You can follow Jimbo's exploits throughout the year at our special EDIasia Moto Team website.

Another stalwart of the EDIasia team is United Kingdom rider Phil Polden who had a terrible year in 2006 mainly due to lingering health issues. This year he is really wound up again and is both enjoying himself and attacking his racing with a renewed gusto.

As well as riding his pair of trusty Kawasaki's in the BMCRC Nationwide Superbike 400 Championship with high hopes !

Phil commented on the support he is receiving from EDIasia saying "After my struggles last season many sponsors would be looking else where, not increasing their support as EDIasia has. Without EDIasia I wouldn't be able to be contesting a full Championship so it is really appreciated".

Phil will also be racing in the same club's MRO Mini-Twins series on a 650 Cagiva that has been donated to Phil by EDIasia's President John Sanders.

As John said "I wish that I had the confidence, or is it stupidity, to race the Cagiva myself but I haven't so I am very happy to give the bike to Phil who I know will treat it well and give it the fun it deserves!".

Also competing at BMCRC meetings again this year in EDIasia colours in Shaun Gilbert who is a plucky and very talented rider who has this year moved up from the 600 class to the 1000cc big-boys club having purchased a Suzuki. In his first couple of meetings on this very different machine Shaun has had a few troubles acclimatising himself to the very different feel of the new bike but he has shown everyone that the potential is there – as we expected.

You can also follow Phil and Shaun's progress on the EDIasia Moto Team website.
