Born: 19 May 1965
Bike: Kawasaki ZXR 400
Greville passed his motorcycle test at the age of 26. After 9 months of riding on the road he felt that cars were a safer option for him at the time, however some 7 years later when some friends obtained their motorcycle liscences and started riding exotic machinery it was too much temptation not to be involved.
After 18 months of road riding and a short touring trip to France on his Triumph T595 that involved a trackday, Greville was hooked, and decided to sell his road bike for something more suitable for serious trackdaying and settled on an Aprilia RS250. One further trackday at Donnington on the RS250 and he did not intend riding on the road again.
The bike was prepared for racing at the beginning of 2000 and in May of that year, Greville started racing in the Rookie 400 Championship with the British Motor Cycle Racing Club, known as Bemsee. He took his first win and consistently finished in the top three in his first 7 days racing. After such a good start, an accident on only the 7th race day put him out of action and left him in hospital.
After 3weeks in hospital with nothing to do but think about how to modify the bike to help overcome the injuries and how to take this or that corner faster, he realised that he was determined to get back to racing. He had to prove to himself that he could do even better and felt that if he didn?, he would regret it for the rest of his life. It made him realise that life is no dress rehearsal.

Having spent the best part of a year having to use crutches to walk, Greville didn't ride again until late 2001 but returned to racing in 2002 for his first full seasons racing with the Aprilia in the Supersport 400 class.
Bemsee SS400 Nationwide Champioship 2002: 14th
Bemsee SS400 Southern Championship 2002: 13th
Still on the Aprilia RS250, Greville was lucky and, in 2003, found some sponsorship to enable him to compete in the MRO Supersport 400 Championship. In spite of some bad luck, the results were reasonable with a best finish place of 10th. He also managed a number of wins in the Clubmans 400 championships but with reliability problems causing many non finishes he felt that he could have won it !

In 2004 Greville competed in both the MRO Supersport 400 and Bemsee National Supersport 400 Championship. He changed the Aprilia for a Kawasaki ZXR 400, a bike he felt would be more reliable, enabling him to concentrate on his racing. It worked, although he was unable to compete in every round due to a lack of finances.
Bemsee SS400 Championship 2004: 3rd
MRO SS400 Championship 2004: 19th
2005 saw Greville planning to once again be contesting the BMCRC Supersport 400 Championship with a view to taking the win.
However, an accident on the first practice day of the season effectively put him out of action for the season. With some determined self belief and hard physiotherapy, Greville set himself some targets to reach in order to compete in the last few rounds. The targets were met and he raced at the Brands GP round in July, again setting and achieving difficult but realistic targets. Some good points scoring and top ten finishes were achieved and with some winter testing he felt 2006 would definitely be on.
Bemsee SS400 Championship 2005: 20th
Having, hopefully, got over the difficulties of last year's injury Greville has had some successful practicing in Spain and is really charged up for the 2006 season when he will again contest the Bemsee 400 Championship now renamed as Superbikes 400. |
